The Place and Importance of Agile Approach in Startup Culture
At the bottom of the ladder…
Whatever the job we want to design in our minds and turn into reality, this road is exciting and attractive as much as difficult and long.
In recent years, the formation of many communities supporting entrepreneurship, activities, events, awards, and successful entrepreneurial stories made this job even more attractive and encouraged startups in this sense. However, a research by Harvard Business School shows that 75% of all startups result in failure.
There are many reasons for these failures. The most important and known reason is the business models that cannot be developed correctly, lack of resources, failure to create the right team, inability to provide adequate financial support, failure to correctly determine the target audience, expectations and market, failure to roll out a product on time while trying to offer it as a whole, inability to focus, trying to do everything at the same time without prioritization, inability to take actions to foresee risks, and inability to create organizations with sufficient agility against change.
In order for the startups to survive and grow, they must manage these uncertainties, while at the same time, they must have agile approaches to the expectations of the organization and the client. The startups, which try to manage all these uncertainties and risks with their old business models and approaches, unfortunately, fall into that 75%.
In the modern world, all the behaviors, market structures, customer expectations, and technologies are changing rapidly and companies need to continue their progress by transforming into agile organizations that can adapt quickly and efficiently to these changes.
How do we achieve that?
At this point, as the pioneer and leading company that offers Agile services in Turkey and in the region, we aim for introducing startups with today’s commonly used Agile approaches and philosophy, which adopts putting products on the market step by step to create value rather than as a whole, developing the right product that will serve the needs with feedback received from the customer, minimizing the risks with experimentation and observation, responding to changing markets and expectations fast so that they can take the right steps and create successful projects.
In the new world where the speed of change and the uncertainties increase, our insistence to maintain our old approaches may sometimes prevent us from realizing our dreams.
We can start by realizing these obstacles when we are just at the bottom of the ladder, and discovering how to develop behaviors that will enable us to progress faster…
